[GI] EA: Console revenue down 30% in Q3
Author: Game Industry News Pipe | Filed under: Game IndustryEA's console revenue dropped 30 per cent in the third quarter of fiscal 2010, according to the company's latest financials, while handheld and mobile revenue was down 27 per cent.
Sales from all three of the home console dropped almost equally - by 22 per cent for Xbox 360, 23 per cent for Wii and 21 per cent for PlayStation 3. Sales of PlayStation 2 games were also, inevitably, down on the previous year with a 75 per cent drop in revenue from the console, but still generated sales worth $44m.
On the handhelds, the DS saw the biggest decrease in revenue - almost half that of the previous year - from $118m to $63m. PSP software sales were down 17 per cent to $30m.
