[GI] EA petitions against Edge Games
Author: Game Industry News Pipe | Filed under: Game IndustryElectronic Arts has petitioned the US Patent & Trademark Office to cancel a number of trademark registrations held by Tim Langdell's Edge Games, Inc.
Langdell has become infamous for attempting to assert ownership of the word "edge", targeting companies big and small - from iPhone developer Mobigame to Future Publishing's Edge magazine.
A cease and desist order was first filed against EA in 2007, due to the game Mirror's Edge. Unlike many previous companies the publisher chose to contest Langdell's trademark ownership, but its first petition for several trademark cancellations proved unsuccessful.
